How We Work
Building a website shouldn't be stressful. Here's exactly what to expect when you work with Kelpie Web Services.
Phase 1: Discovery
Week 1
We start with a free discovery call.
This is a 60-minute conversation to make sure we're the right fit for each other. We'll cover:
- • What you need and what we offer
- • Pricing and project scope
- • Timeline expectations
- • How we'll communicate throughout the project
- • Whether you need photography and copywriting, or if you already have content ready
No charge for the discovery call. If we're a good fit, we move forward. If not, no hard feelings.
What we need from you:
- • Access to any existing branding or website materials
- • Content (or let us know if you need us to create it)
- • Key stakeholders identified for approvals
Phase 2: Design & Planning
Weeks 2-4
We turn your vision into a visual direction.
We'll create two high-fidelity design concepts: one that plays it safe, and one that pushes a little. You'll see exactly what your website will look like before we write a single line of code.
Design process:
- • High-fidelity mockups in Figma
- • Review and feedback session
- • Revisions based on your input
- • Final design approval
Weekly check-ins keep you in the loop. No surprises, no waiting months to see progress.
Phase 3: Development
Weeks 5-8
We build your website.
Once the design is approved, we'll build your site on the platform that best fits your needs. You'll see progress at regular intervals, and we'll have weekly check-ins to make sure everything is on track.
What happens if scope changes?
If you need to add pages or features that weren't in the original plan, we'll pause, reassess, and provide a new quote. No scope creep, no surprise invoices.
Phase 4: Review & Launch
Week 9-10
We make sure everything works before we go live.
Before launch, we run through a comprehensive pre-launch checklist:
- • WCAG 2.2 compliance testing
- • Performance and security checks
- • Cross-browser and mobile testing
- • Content review and final edits
Launch day:
We handle everything. DNS, hosting migration, final checks—you don't need to lift a finger.
Training and handover:
You'll receive:
- • Recorded training videos
- • Comprehensive PDF handbook (how-tos, passwords, troubleshooting)
- • Organised folders of all images and copy
- • Direct line to us for questions
Phase 5: Post-Launch Support
2 Weeks
We don't just hand over the keys and disappear.
For two weeks after launch, you have unlimited support for any issues or small fixes. Found a typo? Button not working? Something doesn't look right on mobile? Forward it to us and we'll fix it ASAP.
After the two-week period, ongoing support is available on an hourly basis or through a monthly retainer.

- Basic: 5 hours/month
- Standard: 10 hours/month
- Premium: 20 hours/month
Retainers give you priority response times and better value if you need frequent updates or support.
